DFP’S CALIFORNIA RECALL POLLING
In early September, Data for Progress asked likely California voters whether they would vote to recall or retain current Governor Gavin Newsom.
Today, we are releasing our final polling showing Newsom defeating the recall with a +14-point margin, with 57 percent of voters voting to retain the governor. Among replacement candidates, Larry Elder leads with a plurality of 22 percent.

Polling Methodology
From September 2 to 10, 2021, Data for Progress conducted a survey of 2,557 likely recall voters in California using SMS and web panel respondents. The sample was weighted to be representative of likely voters by age, gender, education, race, and voting history. The survey was conducted in English. The margin of error is ±2 percentage points.
