National Voters Overwhelmingly Prefer $2,000 Over $600, Support Dems in Georgia

81% of likely voters prefer $2,000 checks over $600, more than half suppport a Democratic controlled Senate

Today, Data for Progress released new national polling that shows Americans overwhelmingly prefer $2,000 checks to $600 checks. 81% of voters support $2,000 stimulus payments, compared to just 14% who prefer $600.

Additionally, Data for Progress asked national likely voters which party they want to see win the Georgia runoff and by extension control of the Senate. When told that Democrats will pursue $2,000 checks while Republicans will not, 54% of voters say they support the Georgia Democratic candidates, compared to just 39% support for Republicans. Independent voters also supported a Democratic Senate majority over a Republican majority 52 to 39.

Earlier this month, Data for Progress polling found that 63 percent of likely Georgia voters indicated they would be more likely to support candidates who supported more coronavirus relief.

On December 30, 2020, Data for Progress conducted a survey of 1166 likely voters nationally using web panel respondents. The sample was weighted to be representative of likely voters by age, gender, education, race, and voting history. The survey was conducted in English. The margin of error is ±2.9 percentage points.
